One thing you probably didn't know about Todd Gehman
He secretly wants to meet Mrs. Miller.
She introduced me to the musical career of Mrs. Miller by playing one of her albums in its entirety. Up until that moment, I believed Lori to be a kind an caring human being. And I believed that lie for years.
I’m laughing, and in a good way. I responded to Lori about her upcoming trip to Montreal, then read about the Space Vixens – is she “Hot” or what? Go Lori !!! I’m strumming my acoustic guitar in my fastidiously clean abode (I’m jealous of Dan) but I’m three generations of Navy – we know how to fold our skivvies and dust – lol
A few years ago, I was at Dan’s house (my buddy Todd had just bought some new-fangled Swedish keyboard Dan wanted to check out). What amazed me (aside from the fact that Dan’s mere dinking around on the keys sounded absolutely fantastic) was the utter lack of dust or clutter or anything messy of any sort in his home. Perhaps he’d just had a maid come and clean things up that very day. I dunno. All I’m saying is that the place was incredibly tidy (especially for a straight boy’s house). Methinks he is quite the fastidious sort…and I would be wise to follow his lead.
Not that I have yet, mind you…
First of all, she (foolishly) thinks I’m cool. Then there’s the fact that she met Wim Wenders. Also, she’s from Texas. Most importantly, however, is the fact that she reminded me that I would give my left leg (which, admittedly, is giving me grief today…poor choice in footwear this morning) to meet Molly Ivans my own self.
judging from her three person list, we have the same taste in peeps. judging from her tags, we’re pretty similar, too. i’m a texan, drinker, film buff, but wannabe french speaker (plus wannabe wit, too)
He professes to hate music (or at least he did when we were in a band together…maybe he just hates my voice?).
Well, this is about the Paris debut of one of his films…when I was living in Paris (a million years ago), the French were CRAZY about him. “Amateur” had just been shown at Cannes, and there was to be one early screening of the film in Paris before it was released to the public in the fall…you’d have thought I was at a Who concert (or perhaps a David Hasselhoff appearance in Germany)! People were lined up super early for the screening. Once the doors opened (an hour late, as one reel was missing in transit from Cannes to Paris), the entire crowd shoved to get through the doors. My friends and I were holding hands, so as not to lose one another. For a moment, I thought I might lose an arm, as my body was being shoved through one door, and one arm (the one whose hand was connected to my friend behind me) was being pushed through the adjascent door. I was already a HUGE fan, but I had no idea he was such a superstar in France! I mean, we were at a film screening, for chrissake! Hal wasn’t even gonna be there!
